Public Notice: Caladh Avenue Reopens December 20th

The Town of Pictou is pleased to announce that Caladh Avenue on the Pictou Waterfront will reopen this weekend following significant upgrades focused on strengthening coastal protection and safeguarding important waterfront properties and public assets, as well as needed upgrades to underground servicing.

Please note the following traffic and access updates:

  • Caladh Avenue is now one-way, travelling westbound from Coleraine Street to Market Street
  • New signage is in place to help guide traffic
  • Market Street remains two-way to maintain access to the deCoste Culture Hub parking lot
  • Turns from Market Street onto Caladh Avenue are not permitted
  • Pedestrians can now use the new sidewalk on the north side of the street
  • The south side pedestrian walkway and boardwalk will be completed in the spring
  • The “bump-ins” along Caladh Avenue are for parking

Looking ahead, street lighting installation will begin next week and is expected to be completed by early January.

Thank you for your patience as we continue investing in a safer, more resilient, and welcoming waterfront for everyone to enjoy.
