Public Notice: Upcoming Fire Inspections

The Town of Pictou will be conducting routine fire inspections for the following property types:

Commercial buildings
Industrial facilities
Multi-unit residential buildings with more than 4 unit                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

These inspections are part of our municipal responsibility to ensure compliance with the Fire Code and to help maintain the safety of our community.

Jason LaGreca, who has been appointed as a Town Fire Inspector, will be carrying out these inspections. He will be in uniform with a name badge to verify his identity.

Inspections will begin within the next couple of weeks. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all.

2025 Low Income Tax Exemption Application

APPLICATIONS FOR PARTIAL RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION – LOW INCOME

TheTown of Pictou is currently accepting applications for partial residential property tax exemption.  Applications can be filed up to December 23, 2025 on forms supplied by the Town.  Application forms can be found at www.townofpictou.ca or can be picked up at the Town Office at 40 Water St.

Partial exemptions can be granted to owners/principal residents of homes of up to $480 in situations where the total income of all residents over the age of 18 in the household was under $30,000 for 2024.

Town of Pictou Equity and Anti-Racism Regional Plan Draft

Draft Operating Budget 2024-25

The draft operating budget for the Town can be viewed here.  The budget will be on the agenda for the Regular Council on Tuesday, April 22 for final approval.
