Property tax bills are issued in April (due in June) and August (due in October). Water bills are issued quarterly in January, April, July and October.
Pay through your bank
You can pay your property tax or water bills online through your bank. You must set up a separate payee for taxes and water.
Property Taxes
Go to “Add Payee”
Search “Pictou”
Select “Pictou (Town) - Taxes”
Add all 8 digits of your Municipal Account number. Add zeroes in front of the number if needed.
For example: your account number is 102436, enter it as 00102436.
Water Utility
Go to “Add Payee”
Search “Pictou”
Select “Pictou (Town) - Water”
Account number must be 6 digits. Do not include .00. If you need more digits, add zeroes in front of your account number.
For example: your account number is 17042.00, enter it as 017042.
Pay with credit card
The Town of Pictou is now accepting water and property tax payments by credit cards online.
A 2.5% convenience fee will apply. To get started visit Paymentus or call 1-833-277-8701.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Amex. Please allow at least four business days for processing.

Make sure to:
- send cheques or bank drafts only (no cash)
- make your cheque payable to the Town of Pictou
- include the stub of your tax bill with your payment
- indicate on the stub if you would like a receipt sent to you
Pay In Person
Visit our administration building at 40 Water St.; Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to pay your bill in person.
