**Important Trail Maintenance update***

We want to let our community know that over the next few weeks, you’ll see machinery in the woodland trail system as we work to clear fallen trees and those at risk of falling. This is an important step to ensure the safety of everyone who enjoys our trails while also reducing wildfire risk. Since the damage sustained during Hurricane Fiona, each successive wind event (like the winds last weekend) causes more trees to fall.

We understand that this work will change the look and feel of some areas. Certain sections will feel more open, and in some spots, the forest will look noticeably thinned. While this may feel like a big change, we will be replanting the area with native species. It’s all part of a long-term strategy to keep our town safe from fire and to protect the woodland and trails for years to come.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we complete this necessary work. Our goal is to balance safety with the natural beauty we all love. We are very fortunate to have Town-owned wild lands to use for public recreation and wellness. Thank you for helping us take care of them. 💚

The Fitness Trails will be closed as of February 20th, 2025. We will notify when they can reopen and we can re-groom the new ski trails!

Stay tuned!
