At the Regular Meeting of Pictou Town Council held on April 22, 2025, Council approved amendments to the existing Off-Highway Vehicle By-Law. The approved changes will permit Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs), including All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and Side-by-Sides, to access the downtown and waterfront areas of Pictou via designated municipal streets. This access will be available from the Jitney Trail at the Brown’s Point Road entry point.

 

In preparation for implementation, the Town of Pictou is developing an OHV signage plan. This plan will include the installation of appropriate signage to clearly indicate the designated streets where OHV use is permitted. The Town is prioritizing this process and working to expedite completion. Once the signage has been installed and the designated routes are open for use, full details will be communicated through multiple channels including the Town’s official website, social media platforms, local newspapers, and the Town’s email subscriber list.
