Enjoy a little magic this Holiday season in the town of Pictou. Throughout November and December, you will find an array of activities, events, and Holiday contests that will keep you busy this season, a little something for everyone.

Light Up Pictou Decorating Contest

Light Up Pictou Decorating Contest has begun. Let's brighten the season with lots of lights this year. 
Contest open to residents and businesses.
Categories include:
Residents - Best Decorated Door, Best Snowfolk Theme, Most Original Theme, Best Repurposed/Recycled Decoration Theme.
Businesses - Best Decorated Door, Best Repurposed/Recycled Decoration Theme. 
How to Enter Contest:
Prizes for each category. To enter for residents email info@townofpictou.ca with "Lit On (your street address)" in the subject line. To enter as a business please email and enter "Lit @ (business name)" in the subject line.
Alternatively, you can comment on the Town of Pictou's social meda posts for the contest. You will then be eligible for judging in all categories. Judging will happen on December 20th and winners announced via Facebook on December 21st.

Craft Maker Fair

CN Station, 71 Front Street

Join Tonya and Mariah in creating snow folk craft and Holiday cards. There will also be a loonie and toonie sale. Children love giving gifts but at times do not have the funds or resources to make it happen. The goal of the loonie and toonie sale is to offer gently used or like new items that a parent may want or find useful. If you can help, email melinda.mackenzie@townofpictou.ca or drop off items at the Town Office between 9am-4pm.

A Pictou Christmas Book Launch

The Pictou Bee Press has just published "A Pictou Christmas," written by Laurie Stanley-Blackwell and illustrated by Teresa MacKenzie. This beautifully illustrated new book is a whimsical spoof of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” with a Pictou-Scottish twist. Everyone welcome.

A Pictou County Gingerbread Heritage Christmas

It’s time to dust off your rolling pins for another Pictou County Gingerbread Heritage Christmas!!. Last year McCulloch House Museum and Genealogy Centre received some wonderfully creative and inspiring gingerbread houses and buildings entries! Build on your own or as a team! Please visit their Facebook page for a registration form or pick one up at the McCulloch Centre, 86 Haliburton Road, Pictou from Monday to Friday 10 am to 4 pm. The deadline to enter is December 8th.

Annual tree lighting, music by McCulloch Education Centre Choir, a Visit by Santa, Elf Workout, Christmas memory tree, hot drinks and cookies. The Pictou Business Treasure Hunt prize draw will take place during the Light Up. Creative Pictou County will host a Christmas art activity.

The Winter Solstice is a time to honour the natural world. As we walk by the sea on the Jitney trail we will ponder the things in our lives that we will let go of at the end of the solar year, and embrace at the start of a new one.
