Festivals & Events List
A community concert event in recognition of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Coinciding with Orange Shirt Day, this day honours Indigenous children and helps to educate Canadians about the impact the residential school system had on Indigenous communities. Dee Dee Austin will be coming to play at this event. So please make time this September 30th, at 5:00pm and come down to the Pictou Waterfront.
Dee Dee has garnered a lot of attention for her amazing music. She used stories of her great grandmother's experience at the Shubenacadie residential school to write the song Buried Truths, honouring the victims and survivors of the residential school system. We are more than honored that Dee Dee will be coming to play this year.
Everyone is encouraged to take time to learn more about the Indigenous culture and what reconciliation means and how we can be a part of it. We are all treaty people. This event is brought to you by Crepe Expectations in partnership with with Costal Nova Scotia (DEANS).
